I wanted to pay homage to the flag. Not in a nationalistic or patriotic sense, but rather to its enduring symbolism. Perhaps no other visual composition is loaded with such history or emotional cues as a country's flag. Depending on the viewer, flags are capable of evoking the broadest range of emotional responses. What do you feel when you look upon our flag? Pride, shame, guilt, patriotism?
